I certify to have known and attended Mr. W. Th. Deane, acting Register General of Hong Kong for about a year, and to be constitutionally sound; but he has been much shaken through repeated attacks of intermittent fever during the summer, the recurrence of which, a great mercurial constitution, disables him to attend to his office.

It is owing to his serious indisposition that I have advised him to apply for leave of absence in England.

(Signed) A. Schettlig, M.D. Hong Kong, 28th October, 185...
